Eurostar unveiled new employee uniforms earlier this week and celebrated the occasion by dressing up the ‘kissing couple’ statue in London’s St. Pancras train station in replicas of the new uniforms.
This is the third time that new uniforms have been rolled out in the company’s 20-year history. The uniforms were designed to the match with the trains’ new livery that will be released sometime next year.
The Eurostar employees consulted during the design process wanted to return to the rail’s colors of navy blue and yellow.
The design firm Jermyn St Design incorporated flashes of yellow into the collars and scarves of the new threads.
“It is a little more of an airline image,” says Susanne Mailm, founder of Jermyn St Design. “But Eurostar is traveling country to country. It has that feel when you travel.”
More than 5,000 pairs of pants, 11,000 shirts, and 1,7000 ties and scarves were distributed to staff that will start wearing the new look immediately.
